Texas Executive Officers Council Legacy Fund

The “Toy Wood Legacy Fund” was established in August 2015 by her peers, members of the Texas Executive Officers Council (TEOC), to honor her many contributions to the home building industry and to thank her for her years of service and friendship as she retired after 11 years as CEO of the Greater Houston Builders Association.

In the fall of 2016, Toy requested that the fund be renamed the Texas Executive Officers Council (TEOC) Legacy Fund. “I want to again express my gratitude to the TEOC for honoring me with the establishment of the Toy Wood Legacy Fund within the Texas Builders Foundation. I would like to propose that the fund be transitioned to the TEOC Legacy Fund so that it may be used by all the Texas home builders associations and members to honor their executive officers or others as needed,” said Toy Wood.

The TEOC and the Texas Builders Foundation Board of Trustees voted to honor Toy’s request, and the fund was officially renamed on November 18, 2016. The TEOC Legacy Fund will provide scholarships, help to establish NAHB student chapters, assist in building related charitable activities, and to further the home building industry in the State of Texas.

About Toy Wood
Kathryn Ann “Toy” Wood served the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) as CEO since 2004, and was Vice President and Director of Government Affairs from 1997 – 2004. One of the largest home building trade associations in the country, GHBA is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Texas Association of Builders (TAB). Toy has mentored hundreds of members and staff of home builders associations in Texas and across the federation. Her expertise in association management, commitment to ensuring a responsible regulatory climate for home building and land development, and her dedication to housing the less fortunate through building related charities have made a lasting impact on both the building industry and her community. In 2007 Wood received the National Association of Home Builders New Executive Officer of the Year Award. That same year she was named one of Houston’s Ten 2007 “Women on the Move” by the Texas Executive Women organization and the Houston Chronicle.

About the TEOC
The purpose of the Texas Executive Officers Council (TEOC) is to encourage and assist the professional development of the staffs of affiliated local home builders associations (HBA) through educational programs and the exchange of information. The objectives of the TEOC are to: promote sound, efficient and progressive practices in the administration and management of the Texas Association of Builders’ (TAB) 28 local home builders associations; foster cooperation and facilitate the exchange of experience, information and ideas among its members; facilitate cooperation and understanding between its members and the leadership and staff of TAB; and facilitate the completion of assigned tasks from TAB pursuant to any strategic plan.

The TEOC consists of each executive officer of a Texas HBA and TAB’s executive director. The TEOC is governed by its annually elected officers: president, vice president, secretary/treasurer (who also serves as dean of the TEOC’s annual Professional Development Conference), three directors, and the immediate past president.

The Texas Builders Foundation is organized exclusively as a private charitable foundation within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. All  contributions to the foundation are tax deductible.
